Demo – Druida Nua

ACT DETAILS ________________________________________

Type of Act: 2 Piece Band

Druida Nua was founded in summer 2011 and started out as a two piece acoustic session band, comprising of a blend of Irish and American folk with roots of Rock and Irish Trad and a healthy mix of Irish Ballads.
The idea came from Steve Reilly, who has unique powerful vocals and Guitar playing skills, along with a song-writers background. This was gelled and mastered together by Anthony Barrett, who is steeped in the art of live Irish session playing on Tenor Banjo and comes from musical family background.
They both met at the original Hole in the Wall tavern in Kilkenny city. The idea of an acoustic live session in the bar was created. Steve says…“We spent the winter of 2011 practicing, creating and developing our set…we tried to pick lively music from different genres”…. They started playing live music sessions at the Hole in the Wall on a regular basis and word soon got out about this lively and intimate music session with full participation from a willing audience. Anto says…“We both wanted to create an energetic and lively session that would bleed the Irish culture of a friendly welcome, with music and song” – “I didn’t think it would become as successful as it is” it became a regular occurrence at the weekend and the “Friday Night Session” was born. The Hole in the Wall soon after became number 1 for Kilkenny night life on Tripadvisor.
We are currently playing live shows all over the country and have a good following..
